review 1: Dnf at 65%.I tried, I really tried here but I just didn’t manage to find any interest whatsoever in this short story. The whole thing simply feels meh. Little happens and the interaction between the characters is just boring. I have to say that this series seriously lacks the fun & excitement of The Emperor’s Edge. I have already bought Decrypted so I guess I’ll give it a try but I’m not exactly overjoyed at the prospect. The only reason I’m giving Enigma a two-star rating is because it was written by Buroker, whose Emperor’s Edge series I love. Had it not been the case, I probably would only have given it one star.
review 2: This was a short but fun story about part of the journey between the frozen wastelands of Turgonia and Tikaya's island home
... moreof Kyatt. I've always been fond of seafaring tales and it was fun picturing Rias climbing the rigging and pumping out the bilge. In this one Tikaya has a job of her own, a mysterious puzzle to solve! It was over too quickly, but thankfully the next full book in the series was waiting for me! less

A nice short story. Not really necessary to this series, but worth a read.

A short read but it was great to revisit Tikaya and Rias.
