review 1: I happily read more or less everything that Lindsay Buroker writes, because it's consistently good. This is no exception. In a short compass, she manages to include several layers of relationship complication, a conflict of loyalties, and a clever heist. I do enjoy a good heist. It's apparently not in the same setting as her Emperor's Edge books, but a different sword-and-sorcery secondary world, although there are plenty of similarities, and Emperor's Edge fans should enjoy it. The editing is fine, and I don't think I spotted any issues.
review 2: Degrees of Delusion is a little masterpiece from our gifted author Lindsay Buroker. It is a story of a former imperial soldier (yes, another outcast) Fortis who had been humiliated and thrown out of the academy. Now
... morehe is working on a merchant ship and little does he know that his past is about to haunt him again in the coming days. But he has a mission on hand to complete and needs to squash his fears to accomplish it. He has to make a difficult choice between betraying his employer and killing the imperial soldiers. Lindsay Buroker, as always, has delivered a great story. It is hard to believe that this short story was written ten years ago. I really like the way she builds her story, the characters and their relationships. It’s a small package with a great reading experience. A must read for all Lindsay fans. less

Nice short story, using some of LB's story tropes with a twist.
