Flavia Albia Mystery
review 1: Better than the Ides of April, the first in the Falco Next Generation series featuring Flavia Albia. Features all the things that makes these series so enjoyable: fun characters who spend a lot of their time gossiping cattily about other characters, witty dialogue and bawdy humour, different perspectives on Roman society and a mystery at the centre full of shifting motives and unreliable witnesses/suspects. Great fun.
review 2: I liked the last Flavia Albia mystery and this one was no exception. Even though the solution to the crime is not entirely unexpected the characters really grow on me. The outlook that slaves in Rome could expect is expectedly bleak and the characters react as unsympathetically as one might expect, though this is hard to bear especiall
... morey from the main characters (especially coming from Flavia I'd have hoped more, though that, in turn, would not have been realistic, I suppose). less

Think about living in a society where the slaves out number the citizens. Rome AD 89

Another entertaining story with plenty of knife-sharp humor.
