review 1: This was picked up as a group read for one of my GR groups but (as usual) I messed the timing up and ended up reading it on my own. However, this was AWESOME! and I am hugely grateful to my Kickers friends who turned me on to this author.I really enjoyed this book and the world that this author has created. n the prologue we learn about the demons and their enemies and the way that they came to her earth (in our future). The first book is set in 2025 so we have a few years left. This book is relatively short and focuses mainly on the home of Vetis, Demon of Corruption, and Amara, the wife of one of Vetis' "victims". They spend most of their time in his home where we learn about their lives and how the way they lived and all that they were forced to endure shaped them into ... morethe people they are currently. We do see a little bit of the outside world in this book and also meet a second demon. As I said, I enjoyed this book immensely and actually, first time ever (since I got my Paperwhite in October 2013) I went on to Amazon and bought the next two books and read them. Till about 5 or so in the morning cause it was one of those "can't sleep so might as well read" nights. Book 2 and 3 are even better and I have definitely found a new author to enjoy for the foreseeable future.
review 2: Delightfully complete for such a short book. The world building was pretty amazing with numerous details that make the story even more enjoyable. I was also pleasantly surprised of the way Vetis went about his bargain. He knew she had been abused and he never once thought of simply taking her without first addressing her concerns and fears. Strangely humane and compassionate of a demon. A real treat. Her husband on the other hand died way to quickly. I was actually sorry this story was so rushed. I wouldn't have minded delving further into their romance. less

Couldn't finish. Some of the positions were so impossible, I couldn't get invested.
