review 1: I really enjoyed this snippet although I wish we got more! I loved reading about what he thought and felt during the situations and I think that Cabel's version of the book would be an awesome idea! I really enjoyed reading the section in his perspective and then going back and reading hers so I could get the whole picture. I just wish that we had the books in his perspective as well or at least key event of all the books made into one.(It's in the back of Wake)
review 2: I read the Wake/Gone/Fade series a few years ago for a YA literature class. I just wanted to read something that didn't have to do with vampires or sparkling star-crossed romances and that reminded me of the teen mystery/thriller/horror novels I read as a kid in the 90's. I didn't expect mu
... morech from Wake. At all. I had only bought it and only intended on reading it. Then I devoured it in less than a day, ran out of the house in my jams and got to the bookstore in time before it closed to get the second book (they didn't have the third), then finished the second and, the next morning, went to a different bookstore to get the third and final book. You can say that I found it totally amazing and be understating it. It's been a few years, but I just found out about this little chapter from Cabel's perspective. Given the bomb-in-waiting that is the Midnight Sun(Edward's version of Twilight) POV-twist (which I've read), I wasn't really expecting much. Just like when I first picked up Wake, I guess. All I can say is that I wish this were a next book and that it were told in Cabe's POV. Rather than a supplement, it would be great if - were McMann to return to the series - this could be the follow up. Book 4. Instead it's pre-book 1. Too short. But, at least, it's OK. I give it four stars because I love Cabel. He's a good guy. Totally deserves a book. less

I found out about this story and saw in one of the reviews that this story was in the back of Wake so I looked into my copy and there it was.I thought this story was okay, in just a few amount of pages I was able to get a little more insight into Cabel's thoughts and found that I was in the middle about what to think of it. For one I feel like he leaves Janie to fend for herself too often and yes I get that he is emotionally scarred but why can't he find help with Janie for himself and help her find what she needs? The reasoning why I thought it was "okay" was considering it was just a few pages and then he decided to confront Janie in the first book. In the end, I'm glad that I read because I like a different viewing of a story every now and then.

I liked being able to get a look of Cabel's perspective of things, especially when he first learns about Janie's secret. That was a major event in the first book, and being able to see it from both sides of it makes it so much better. I was surprised to see that Cabel was interested in Janie for so long before the book even started, but I was happy for it. I wish more authors did stories like this.

Just too short to make anything out of it. And not a lot of insight into Cabel either.
