review 1: Ok, this is the first review I've ever really given. I love Lizzy Ford's books. The Rhyn Trilogy was very good and the first 2 books in the Rhyn Eternal series have been just as good. Now, Darkyn's Mate was just AMAZING! There were things in both book 1 and 2 that I just didn't care for (of course, that was probably due to Lizzy wanting that of the readers LOL). Perhaps I've always had a thing for the bad guy that you should avoid, I don't know, but Darkyn always drew my attention, even back in the Rhyn Trilogy series. Reading his book, I kept thinking of Papa Roach's song, "To Be Loved" and I think it suits Darkyn perfectly. I liked how he was always honest with Deidre (human) from the get go and helped her learn her place in her new world, gave her the tools to su... morervive. He showed his affection for her in his own way which just made me go "Awwwww!" Yes, he's the ultimate baddy who does horrible things, but I think with Deidre in the picture, things may change a little. Normally I don't care for the bad guys to have love interests/mates, but Lizzy very well may have changed that opinion with this book. Now Deidre (human), I enjoyed watching her grow and change from book 1 to book 3. In the beginning she more or less took what Fate threw her way, granted trying to find the silver lining in everything. She was strong, yet conflicted. Her time with Darkyn has helped her become stronger, less conflicted and gave her life purpose. In book 1 and book 2, I was rooting for human Deidre to be Gabe's mate and to find a way out of Hell, but now, honestly, I'm glad she has Darkyn and he has her. I think they will (eventually) be great together. Now, to wait until "The Underworld" comes out!
review 2: Loved it! Before I read Deidre's Death, I didn't feel as excited for Darkyn's Mate. But having gotten to know Deidre and past-death Deidre, I loved it! Darkyn is so mysterious and turns out to be completely unexpected. I'm actually happy for both Deidre's and I feel like they're truly found their own callings and purposes in life, even though there's more to learn and grow from! The atmosphere and setting continues to be on par with all the other books. I loved how Deidre's Death and Darkyn's Mate are both set in the same timeline, but going through the stories of each of the Deidre's individually. It was really cool to see the two timelines joining up to the same conversations that were in the other book.I absolutely can't wait for Underworld to come out and am so sad that I have to wait so long!! less
