review 1: *I received this book free from Barclay Publicity in exchange for an honest review*Captain Sawyer Mathis has to make tough last minute decisions in time of war. In the midst of a gunfight choices can make so many people’s lives turn upside down. Sawyer makes a last minute decision that will leave one twin dead and another in a coma with a missing leg. Knowing he did everything right people’s lives are still shattered including his own. He is broken and he does not even really know it himself until meeting Katya.Katya Khavalov is the sister to the twins that were under Captain Mathis’s command. Not knowing where to put her anger and blame she directs it straight at Captain Mathis. Never leaving her brother’s side to make sure he fully recovers after waking up from h... moreis coma and learning to use his new leg brings out the mother instinct in her. Born into a trust fund Katya does a lot of charity work and doing so in her brothers honor will bring her out of her element and into one week of camping with no other than Sawyer as her partner. This book is very touching and emotional. Anything that has to do with military touches my heart and draws me in. The author touches on the struggles of coming home from war, losing part of yourself, and the struggles a family must go through when the worst happens. However, this made me laugh a lot along the way. The chemistry between Sawyer and Katya is hilarious and it doesn’t really help that her brother might be playing match maker with the one person she wants to hate so bad. That is until he teaches her some self-defense and has to put his arms around her. Leaving her to go back to war proves to be a struggle and they must own up to their true feelings for each other to be truly happy.I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a great military romance read.My Favorite Moment: I have to say that the love/hate relationship between Sawyer and Katya is my favorite so far. They really do not know how to deal with each other unless they are picking a fight. My Favorite Family Bond: I am always a sucker for a brother and sister relationship that loves beyond reason.
review 2: *I received this book free from Barclay Publicity in exchange for an honest review*Nothing More Intense Than When Anger Turns to Love!On Sawyer’s first commanding assignment four of his men are killed and one left severely injured and in a coma. To say that he blames himself is putting it mildly. The only way he can deal with his emotions is to turn his icy exterior on full force and turn everything else off.Petr came home missing a leg and is still in a coma. His twin Mikael gave his life to save his team. And their younger sister Katya places all the blame on one Captain Sawyer Mathis. Her grieving process puts Sawyer in her crosshairs and she’ll take every opportunity to remind him that her brother’s death was his fault. I could understand her pain, but I always felt so bad for Sawyer every time she’d throw one of these reminders in his face.Forced to work together Sawyer and Katya take every chance to get under the other’s skin, but there’s a fine line between hate and love. When other emotions start to seep in they both do what’s best…find a way to piss off the other and return the hatred that’s kept them going.Semper Mine is a moving story about two broken people who learn to feel again. It’s filled with sadness, feistiness, an occasional wake-up prank, and a relationship that will tug on your heartstrings.I’m looking forward to reading Petr’s story in Soldier Mine. My Favorite Moment: I don’t want to give it away so all I can say is…white shoes and the conversation that immediately follows. less
