review 1: Stephan ran off from New Orleans after his brother betrayed him in the second book, Bloodlust. He found a young woman nearly bleeding to death, so he healed her and took her home. Oddly, he was immediately accepted into the Sutherland's family home. Little did he know, his brother, Damon, was also dating a young woman in the family and compelled them all to allow Stephan in their home as well. Stephan was forced by Damon to marry into the family to inherit their riches when Damon killed them all. But it was too late. One of the original vampires, Klaus, had already done the deed, and warned the brothers. He was after them for killing Katherine. Lexi, Stephan, Damon and back-from-the-dead Katherine, were all running from the same vicious vampire, K... morelaus.
review 2: I enjoyed this book however it is no longer a prequel to the show; it's another version completely. Stefan and Damon are reunited again already. Towards the end of the book they find out about Klaus. In the show Stefan and Damon didn't even know if he was real for a while. This may be cleared up in the following books in the series and I hope it is.Despite it's flaws it is a good book though. In my opinion the first two were better but like I said it is good. less
