review 1: I'm a bit at odds over this book and how to rate it....I am conflicted because I love the characters especially Ronan and think the secondary characters are superb however there are a few writing flaws and plot holes that although didn't bother me while reading it...at least not much, they did bother me when thinking back to write my review. Lets deal with the negative first....I found the writing of character dialogue a bit stiff..it didn't flow as easily as the first book in this series which really took away the ability to rate it 5 stars. I felt the whole Naomi thing what sorta left hanging. It was a big build up and then it just petered out and the story line deserved more since she impacted Ronan's character so much. I would have liked to see Ronan's mother have ... moremore of a part cause it just didn't make complete sense to me that she would go from being father caretaker to making her surprise announcement...Her skill set just wouldn't allow it as we know her now. I felt the Ronan, Amery story could have been secondary in this novel and have another couple get together and find a HEA and have the continuous R and A story be filler. Positives, Love Ronan, love his sister and can't wait to read her story ..with Roarke? ...I like Amery but she was a bit angsty in this novel but still they make a good couple overall. I liked learning more about Ronan and his back ground. Thought Amery's parents were the devil in disguise a bit cliche but it worked. I really enjoyed reading the book and am anxious to read more in the series. I love Lorelei James and can't wait for Unravelled to come out in March 2015. So I have decided I"m going to give the book 3.25 ..I do think it was more than a 3 but it had some issues that could not be ignored. Book 1 was a much better read.
review 2: I was a little underwhelmed by this. I liked Amery and Ronin together and I enjoyed watching them build on their relationship from the first book. And the sex continued to be as super holy hell hot as the first book so that was much appreciated. But I also had some issues. There were some tangents with both leads' work lives that I wasn't super interested in and it felt like some ground was unnecessarily retread between the two. And the last minute totally unnecessary crazy-ex villain? Ugh. I really could have done without that. The story didn't need it and it's a ridiculous cliche that I'm totally over. So, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself liking this duology but I would have been happier if it had been one longer, tighter book rather than two shorter ones. Also, I'd like Shiori's book RIGHT NOW please. What? I have to be patient and wait?!? Boo. less
