review 1: I love the wild McKay/West cowboys and the stories of how they come about getting their Happy ever after's. "Buck's story is no exception. This book, although it is number 9 in the series, should really be read between #7 and #8, as we get a small cameo from Keely the notorious Bad girl of the McKay/West bunch, and she is still single. Kane has his own reputation for being a bad boy, as do most of the McKay boys. Kane however has held onto his for a lot longer that the others. At 37 he's still single although life has obviously tamed him of late. He's taken up a mentoring position in the Buddy program and has been too busy working the farm to get into any trouble. Until Ginger Paulson, the mother of his favorite little buddy has a fall. Ginger is a very independent woman,... more as has got to where she is in life with no help from anyone except her father. A father who she is now the main carer for, along with her son. Ginger refuses to ask anyone for help, so her son and father involve Buck. He takes over as carer for the three of them during Ginger's recuperation period. Sparks fly, and before long it's all on with our staring couple. But there's a problem, Buck could be removed from the buddy program if it's found out he's fraternizing with one of the mothers, so there "activities" are kept on the down low, until during Bucks three week stint on the farm for calving season, when they both realize they don't want to be without each other.Who knew Kane "Buck" McKay was such a gentleman!!
review 2: Kane McKay was trying to change his reputation of picking up women and drinking because he wanted to settle down and have a family. He worked from sun up to sun down on his family's ranch by doing every chore and became a mentor in the Little Buddy program. He is interested in his Little Buddy's mom but the program has a rule that he cannot have a relationship with her. When she is out of commission when she falls down the stairs, Kane agrees to help take care of her, her elderly father and her son while she heals. They are attracted to each other so, being careful of Ginger's injuries, they have sex. However, Kane lets her know that he is the boss in the bedroom and wants her full sexual submission.This book has a lot of detailed sex scenes which I am not interesting in reading about. Also it had mild BDSM which I REALLY don't like so after reading about a third of it, I put it away. But I kept thinking about it for a few days and picked it up again. I skimmed over the sex scenes and found I liked the story line and the characters - when they weren't in bed.If you like erotica and BDSM, you will like this one. less
