review 1: Love Lost?As we found out in Olivia (Choisie book 2), Jon decided to go to Utah for the summer to spend time with his family. It didn't go so well with Olivia that he made that decision without her and only told her a few days before he was to leave. This, among the kiss she shared with Finn, has cause alot of heartache. Jon walked away, without saying anything. He left. In his mind, he is done with Livvy. In her mind... They arent finished. Olivia has decided to paint a series of paintings, describing her feelings for Jon. Along with each painting, she writes him a letter, conveying those feelings. Not knowing if he even reads them, she faithfully sends him a letter each time she finishes a painting. In this installment, we get Jon's point of view on things that have ... morehappened and his feelings on everything. I loved seeing his POV, we all know how much he loves Olivia, but it was great reading from his side. And, we also get to read the letters that she has sent him over the summer!Olivia's letters brings back alot of feelings for Jon, and even though he is angry with her, he can't deny that he still loves her. I love this Excerpt!- "I feel everything for you, Olivia," I'd told her. "With every ounce of my being, with all my heart and soul, I am full of the greatest affections, passions, and emotions that any man has ever felt for any woman... any time in the history of the world." - I'd loved Olivia as deepply as I could... and even after all the pain and anger, I want that again. Maybe I'm a masochist, I don't know.-"No," I answer. "For me, I've had a taste of the best of everything... and I don't want anything less for myself.""Do you think you can find that with another girl? With someone other than Livvy?"I think about his question for a minute before sitting up and taking off my glasses, allowing the lights in the distance to blur. I wipe my eyes and sigh."No, Will. I don't.""Are you going to take her back?" he asks excitedly.If you want the answer to Will's question to Jon, you need to get this book. :)
review 2: Lori Otto did it again. She wrote a book that not only touches your heart but leaves you wanting more. It was amazing writing and full of emotional moments making me question my first impression of Jon.When I finished Olivia a few months ago, I had mixed feelings about Jon. I wasn't sure if I like Jon- I felt for him but I thought Jon was overbearing and too confident towards Olivia's father. I felt like he was too smart and cocky for his own good never accepted any of the problems that incurred in the relationship between Olivia and himself. When I finished Dear Jon, I had a new outlook towards Jon. I really liked him and began to understand him in a way I never did before. In Dear Jon, we not only feel his pain but also watched him grow as a man as he teaches his brothers to forgive their painful children memories. Jon was not only the teacher in these lessons but the student as the realization of listening to his own advice. Great Job Lori! less
