review 1: I wish I could give this one 5 stars, it is just fantastic! The reason I can't quite give it a perfect score is because her instructions at times are confusing or not quite right. The projects are really amazing! I want to make just about everything in this book. I checked it out from the library and after renewing it about a million times and being refused by the library to keep it any longer, I decided to buy my own copy. I found that getting a big piece of packing paper and tracking the patterns onto the paper made the perfect template that I could cut up and use without destroying the originals. I highly recommend this book, although it may not be written for extreme beginners.
review 2: As with her other book, "Simple Sewing," my main criticism of th
... moreis book is that the projects may be a bit too simple. But with a newborn in the house, suddenly this doesn't seem like much of a criticism - if I'm going to get any sewing done during short naps, it better be insanely simple! Also, using a little kerchief as a bib? Total genius!! And the bloomers? So flippin' cute. She got my $25.____________________Reporting back (again), I've sewn several pairs of bloomers (adorable, but they run much smaller than advertised - however, the pattern is easy to adapt to bigger babies or cloth diapers), many pairs of pants (initially, I didn't like the two piece pattern, but have come back to it now that my baby is bigger - these run big). The kerchief/bib is indeed so flippin' cute I can hardly stand it (and so easy!). I have also made several taggie-toy blanket-thingies (I pieced them, so they're like little quilts), and my baby LOVES them. I wouldn't say the patterns are amazing - they are simple to the point of slightly sloppy. The clothing items have only one or two sizes (and the book is unclear or just wrong about what size of child they might fit), but they are unusually easy to adapt to your needs (that is, even a rank beginner could probably figure out how to alter them).Overall, I have made more projects from this book than any other that I own. I would say that this is a great book for a beginner sewer, and a fun, inspirational book for a more advanced but busy sewer with a baby in the house. less
