review 1: Somewhat brutal, but compelling story of 2 young girls lost in the Tasmanian wilderness after a tragic accident, who become feral after being taken in by a pair of Tasmanian tigers. You have to suspend reality somewhat in this book, but the narration style of one of the survivors as an elderly woman, makes it seem more realistic. In spite of the young age of the girls at the start of the book (6 and 7) it is almost more of a YA title, just because of content.
review 2: An unusual and beautiful little book. It is just as fascinating as you would think a book about two young girls adopted by tigers in the Tasmanian bush would be, but it was the depth and magic and heartbreak of it that surprised me. I see that some other people were put off by the dialect (the ... morenarrator says "I were scared" and things like that), and at first I thought it would bother me too, but soon I didn't even notice it, it was just Hannah's voice. Into That Forest was adventurous, heartbreaking, and completely affecting. Really loved it. less
