review 1: I had no idea what I expected but it was not this. It hummed along as a thriller, building up the suspense, for about 4/5 of the book before taking a screeching turn into creepytown. I wasn't too fond of how the author just did an "info dump" at the very end (in the sense of "yes, I was the bad guy and here are five pages where I will tell you exactly how I did everything and why!") but it did tie things up nicely. I enjoyed reading it once but don't know if I would do so again. Recommended for those who want a GONE GIRL or THE DINNER lite version.
review 2: I wasn't sure I was going to like this book at first. Kate, the main character, is a young widow who has suffered more than her fair share of bad luck, is plagued by statistics. Constantly trying to calcu... morelate the odds of something terrible happening to herself or her son, she has essentially locked herself into a cage. But maybe she's not so crazy after all. She's oblivious to the strange man next door who seems to be obsessed with her. But somehow in the midst of her stressful life, she catches the attention of a Scottish professor who begins to change her life in positive ways. I know what you're thinking... that this will be some kind of Nicholas Sparks woman awakened by meeting the man of her dreams type of story, but it's actually not. It's actually more of a suspense story in the end. I thought I knew what was going to happen, but the story took an interesting turn and surprised me. Accidents Happen is also a pretty quick read, which is sometimes a nice change. This was a good solid story, and I would definitely read other books by Louise Millar less
