review 1: Very believable and relatable for any mother struggling to combine work, childcare, relationships and friendships. And very plausible too in anonymous big cities and neighbourhoods with constantly changing populations. I wasn't sure whom to believe at first, but felt myself naturally more sympathetic towards one of the characters (perhaps not the one you might expect.) A book that had me hooked, finished it off in a few hours on a rainy day.
review 2: This is one of the best books I've ever read. I bought this book a long time ago and because of school stress and a lot of things in my mind I hadn't been reading in quite a while. I tried to read The Great Gatsby but I couldn't understand anything, I tried pushing myself to finish The Catcher in the Rye but I jus... moret got bored and annoyed. I was in a crisis cause I had bought a lot of new books but I didn't know which was good enough to read at the moment. Then I realized I had been putting this book specifically on hold all the time. So yesterday, I decided I was just going to start reading it once and for all. I couldn't put the damn book down, I was on a crisis of going out with my friends, or staying home to continue reading. At one point in the book, I was so stunned and surprised because of events that happened all of a sudden I had to literally close the book, curse and sink it all in. The author makes a fantastic job at surprising you with things you'd never imagine happening. I really, really, really, recommend this book. Just awesome. It had been a long time since I read such a good book, a book I couldn't put down and a 400 page book I finished so quickly. less
