review 1: Very interesting book, although the author does jump around somewhat. This was biographical of not only the kings during the "Georgian" era, but also their queens, mistresses, courtiers, artists, etc. lots of info about the culture of the 18th century as well. It is an entertaining non-fiction history book. I do recommend it if you are looking for a not-too-heavy non-fiction. Other reviewers have written more complete reviews if you want to learn more about it.
review 2: This is a marvellously entertaining and informative book. By an historian at Historic Royal Palaces in the UK, it tells the story of the courts of the Georges (especially I and II) through the tales of their participants - not only nobles and gentry but servants of all levels and the kin
... moregs' many mistresses. A wonderful use of letters and commentary from the times - how could so many people have been so articulate! - and with insights about how the role of medicine and of women was changing. Lots of fun too! less
