review 1: 2nd time around just as good!A strong 4.5!Holy world building Batman! What an unexpectedly great book. The aliens and their culture in this story was great (especially for something so short!) This story just has so much going on that hit in all the right places. I really love books that can build a new world or social structure, I also love (the idea anyway) of submission stories. So often I read BDSM books and are really disappointed mainly at the subs who tend to be weak sniveling people. Not so with Liam one of our MC's. He's a normal guy hes not a pansy he's not weak he just loves to put other peoples pleasure above his own. This book has no pain play or really anything other than light bondage. It's all about submission as opposed to sadism or masochism. nowthen abou... moret the "incompatible genitalia"....[ Indeed humans and the aliens in this story have genitalia that do not go together AT ALL (uhhh 2 foot back penis? O_o;; eeeesh). The aliens don't get pleasure from intercourse (in fact it's a new concept for them) but of course Liam the super sub wants to sexually please his guy. Sorry Liam it just doesn't happen. However the alternative of sweet spots (I think of petting a cat behind their ears) was cute. Do I wish for poor Liam to be able to have sex with Ondry of course I do. I would have liked compatible genitalia (at least he haa Ondry's tail?). :( (hide spoiler)]Overall this book wont be for everyone if traditional woohoo is what you are looking for this is probably not for you. But if you want a super sweet well thought out new place to explore I strongly recommend Claimings, Tails, and Other Alien Artifacts(less)
review 2: I enjoyed this, for all that it's another alien and human culture differences and so on book, this was fun to read. It was also rather well written and the sex only really came into play during the last portion of the book. Lots of emphasis on the differences between the two races (with humans coming out to look very much the poorer of the two). Also Dom/Sub and past mentions of rape. Never gets really graphic, but Liam doesn't shy away from his feelings. I adore Liam, who is torn between his feelings, but there's also massive confusion from him a lot of the time because, hello, completely different culture. Ondry is very 'other', which is good considering that you have an alien society that is supposed to be very different from one's own. less
