review 1: I see a lot of children's books pass through the library and mostly I just skim them as I look for damage, but this one appeared interesting enough that I actually checked it out. The fact that it was such a short read was nice rather than a detraction. I guess the only thing I found disappointing is that the protagonist had to be a girl; it made me wonder if there was no yarn in the box for the antagonist because he was greedy or because he was a man?
review 2: I love love love this book! The book was about a little girl named Annabelle who found a box of colorful, never-ending yarn. She knits people sweaters and hats all over ton and never runs out of yarn. Until one day, the archduke wants her yarn but she says no so he steals it. I won't spoil the ending
... more but I personally like the way it ends. The theme of this book is that spreading kindness brings joy to others. I loved the writing in the story, how it was so simple just like Annabelle. I also really enjoyed the characters in the story; the archduke was so interesting. And the illustrations were excellent. They were done so well there's no question why this book received a Caldecott Honor. Jon Klassen did an absolutely amazing job using color to depict the story. This book is probably one of my new favorites now. I wish this was around when I was a child. I definitely see myself reading this book to my future children. This book will be added to my collection rather early in their lives. I want them to see the generosity of Annabelle and the selfishness of the archduke. I think a good lesson could be brought out of this amazing book. less
