review 1: Poor President Taft. What an unfortunate legacy that may or may not even be true. I think kids will think the story, and especially the illustrations, funny, but may also be disturbed at the idea of all those people in Taft's personal space!! I do think the ideas of the various cabinet members of how to get Taft out of the bathtub were clever (the secretary of agriculture wanted to try freshly churned butter and the secretary of war wanted to blast him out with dynamite). It was also clever of the illustrator to find ways to cover Taft's birthday suit once he flew from the bath!
review 2: It gets two stars because of the cute doggy. I really didn't want to see a very large naked president stuck in a bathtub on every single page of a children's book. Getti... moreng back to the dog - I don't think he had a cute doggy like that in real life. He bought a little white doggy for his daughter at one point and in one picture I found online there was a dog that looked nothing like the one in the book. Basically, my favorite part of the book was a complete farce. less
