review 1: I always feel a bit weird reading sequels just in case they aren't as good as the first book. But I genuinely thought this was equally as good as Shiver!! I love this whole world, Sam and Grace and Cole and Isabel ... They're amazing. I can't express how much I enjoyed this book, and the series so far. I may ship Isabel and Cole... Just maybe...I'm looking forward to seeing what will happen next for Grace and Sam. Definitely have to take a trip to the bookshop soon I think.
review 2: Three stars because I liked it...not gonna lie about the fact that teen paranormal romance books are my guilty pleasure. Three stars because I didn't LOVE it and I'm capable of seeing the faults in teen books even while I enjoy them. Commendations: Isabel! I love this girl. Her sna
... morerk is on point and her character progression is compelling and believable. While Grace and Sam sometimes fall flat for me, Isabel is always so dynamic. Cole was a great new addition to the cast as well. I wasn't in love with his character at the beginning, but he definitely grew on me. Again (as always with Stiefvater books) I loved the quotable nature of many of the descriptive phrases throughout. There's no denying that she is a wordsmith and its the reason I continue to choose her books over others in the genre despite the fact that the stories themselves sometimes fail to impress. Bonus commendation...very little Rachel in this one! She's like a little rainbow gremlin or something...I don't even know.Criticisms: I've never been a huge fan of the "11th hour cure-all" plot curve that Linger (and Shiver as well) employs. I enjoyed the build-up immensely. What's wrong with Grace? Will she die? Those questions kept me reading even through some of the slower and disappointingly dull moments of exposition. So it was a bit of a let down when the main problem of the entire book is magically solved with pseudo-scientific speculation in the last few pages....not to mention that it was an appalling copy of the scene in the Twilight saga where Bella finally becomes a vampire (werewolf venom? mention of a syringe of werewolf venom? no....just no) Despite criticisms...I'm going to see this one through. Moving on to Forever. Stay tuned to see if Stiefvater falls prey to the pattern of depressing/rushed third installments that I've found in other trilogies (ie. Hunger Games, Divergent, Maze Runner, etc.) less

I'm not sure if it was the green typeface or the story that caused my eyes to jump lines sometimes in this book. I appreciated the return of the main cast, but I wish other things (such as the temperatures) had been maintained. The constant switching of narrators was a bit overwhelming, too. Several times the narrator switched multiple times within the chapter. After 360 pages, I'm still undecided how I feel about Cole, though Steifvater's unique twist on warewolves continues to entertain me, so I'm ready to read the next book and find out what happens.
