review 1: Really enjoyed this one and have book two in the trilogy ready to pick up from the library - book one tees that one up very nicely and I can't wait to get to it. Quite an unusual book in that it goes into quite some detail on the life of the gunman and the other characters in the book - found it useful to have the key of who everyone is at the start as that saved me having to go back and reread to check who everyone was as there are quite a few characters. My only complaint with it was that I'd been initially attracted to the book by the fact that it was set in Glasgow but neither the dialogue, characters or setting referenced Glasgow much at all - it could have been set anywhere. That wasn't a huge problem though and I still think that I have found a new author to add to ... moremy list of favourites.
review 2: This is the first book in a trilogy set in the Glaswegian underworld where murder is for hire. I found it a wonderful breath of fresh air in the crime genre as the book focuses on the viewpoint of the contracted killer. The only thing that stopped me giving this book 5 stars was every time I had to put the book down, I had difficulty getting back into the present tense it is written in, but once going, it is a wonderful read. I will definitely be reading the next book. less

E' sicuramente particolare, però è un po' noioso; troppo didascalico.
