review 1: I was very disappointed with this book. The history and story were just as good as the first book of hers I read( The Venetian Bargain), but it had a lot of depravity. I understand that that was the case with the Medici, and that it was being realistic, but I felt that it had way more sordid detail than it needed. One of the things I liked about the last book was that it was clean. This did not fit that description.
review 2: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I could not stop reading the last 100 pages so I did not finish it till 1:30 am last night.
