review 1: Roxie is the stereotypical introverted geek girl who has a BFF who wants to change that. Taking her to Club 'Wulf's Den' for a fun night of socializing, Roxie attracts the eye of a studly example of eye candy guy who would like nothing better than to get her alone and have some one on one quality time in his bed. She runs from him before he can find out her name, phone number, or address. Beowulf, leader of his wolf pack, is stunned to discover that his destined mate has just walked into his club. Not wasting any time he separates her from her friend to claim her in the age old way of his kind. He's waited for way too long to delay for even a minute. He's stunned when Roxie runs from him before he can find out who she is or where she lives. Silly human. Beowulf is now on t... morehe hunt and his prey is Roxie. First in book series for a shapeshifter series revolving around the "Wulf's Den" and men from a wolf pack. Good premise with the author featuring some luscious eye candy alpha men who have no control over themselves when they spot their mate. Little do the women realize how their lives are about to change which is the case in this book. I did like the central characters and can see future development of the cast of secondary characters. I already have some favorites from that secondary list so can't wait to see Carl and Wade's story. There are others but with a possible spoiler alert potential I can't mention them. Back to the book. There is an adventure/intrigue storyline going on here that I enjoyed. A significant twist that occurs did make it even better. My issue though was that the overall world building and layering were just too problematic. There are times I felt like I was getting whiplash as the different characters flip flopped back and forth and details became inconsistent. An example of that is when one of the characters has an ankle injury yet in the next scene it isn't an issue anymore. It would have seemed that this should have been followed through and addressed with that character. That IS a minor spoiler free example but there were many others. After a while it became too much to the point that I felt I could only enjoy the story on a superficial level. As to the adult content portions of this book. The author did make a good attempt to pull the reader into enjoying the scenes and play between the characters however I did start to actually skip through these in the later portion of the book as it was more repetitive except for the fact that they happened in different places. Anyone who knows my reading tastes will understand why that's unusual for me. This was an enjoyable read that has that suspense type of thing going on. The bad guy slant and twist to the story do add some mystery and challenge you mentally but can't say that I'm a real fan but will be checking out future installments to see where this goes.
