review 1: I thought the description of the book held promise of being great. Outside of a few things in the story, I just was not into thos story. The end of the story had an interesting pull to it. Maybe it was because there were too many interesting television series that my husband and I have been watching that we're far more interesting than this book. The flow of this book just was not complete to me. Sorry Mark Miles for giving this a low rating.

... moreharacters are stock — the wily French inspector, the bombastic but loyal friend, the enchanting feisty kid sister, the mysterious and sexy Soviet spy. The main protagonist is just too perfect — well-educated, proficient in sailing, combat, French, wine selection. The book reads like a novel written by the screenwriter Mills has become (it’s even got a car chase scene) rather than by a novelist. less
