review 1: At first I didn't think much of this story. The competition to figure out the mystery wasn't all that new. But the poetry made the story come alive - and the characterization went a whole lot deeper than I ever expected in an easy kid's book. I was astonished, and enjoyed greatly figuring out the clues. The trivia at the end is challenging for an adult (yay for Google) and takes this entire story to a whole new level. I really liked this book a lot and would call it 4.5 stars.
review 2: A cute premise. There is a mystery to be solved when the class fish is stolen and the thief has left a clue in the form of a poem. The clue serves as a catalyst for the class to not only try to solve the mystery, but explore poetry and poets at the same time. I found it fun at t... moreimes, but also a bit preachy and over done at others. I did like the tie in to poetry and the example of enthusiastic teaching and teachers. less
