review 1: Lovely book and sentiment. Growing up as the 5th daughter in my family, I not only donned my sisters' hand-me-downs, but every once in a while was bequeathed a treasure box of them by the neighbors. Patrice Barton's novel watercolor illustrations are more than welcome as she weaves faded textiles into each page as if summoning the ghosts of old fabrics into every lively scene. The story could spark some discussions about recycling and non-attachment, but I recommend being inspired to initiate an enjoyable excursion to the thrift shop. Bring a child, and create wild stories behind each article of used clothing, inviting the imagination into the daily experience of getting dressed. - Jillian (RBB Staff) less
