review 1: I decided to read something out of the domain that I normally read and decided to pick up this book. I thought the title and synopsis sounded interesting so I decided to give it a go. However, it's expectations fell short. It wasn't a terrible book, I enjoyed it enough to finish reading it. It had a pretty stable plot, like able characters, and a compelling opening. Now, the opening is what really drew me in, it was fast and straight to the action. It kept a good pace clear up until the middle of the book and that's when it started to lose me. I felt like after I hit the middle the story just seemed to drag and put it unnecessary stuff involving Elizabeth, which didn't help the story or plot, and could have been skipped. The ending was a let down, all that build up and it ... morewas just kinda for nothing. The plot was also easily predictable in some parts. If you enjoy this kinda of genre then you'd probably enjoy it, but don't expect it to be different then other books in the genre.
review 2: It's odd that I have read many books set in Texas before this one and never really read much about Texas Rangers (the police, not the baseball team). That and winemaking, because much of the story concerns Greer's vineyard and the troubles she has getting a winery set up, while trying to avoid Ranger Bragg, one of a team of detectives assigned to a series of murders involving people Greer knows. A pretty good read, all in all. Not as much sex or romance as I had expected from a romantic suspense book, though. less
