review 1: Not my favorite of the series by far but overall a good read. My biggest issue was there were so many new names and people involved, plus new language. I couldn't keep it all straight. And what was worse is that I didn't really care. Jin and Logan make a reappearance which was the highlight of the book for me. Wish we could have another book about their adventures. The author left the door open for that to happen. Not a re-read which I frequently do with the first three books.
review 2: Possible minor spoilers... I love the world that Mary Calmes created for this series- the amount of detail she goes into in terms of hierarchy and roles within the werepanther world is sometimes staggering, but for me, it shows that she was serious when she undertook this j... moreourney. I wasn't always on board with the first three books, mainly because Jin is the type of character who seems to constantly go against everyone and everything just to be difficult, and yet everyone forgives him because... well, he's Jin. A miracle cat. Luckily- this book shifts the story to a powerful couple of alpha males (always hotter to me than a big strapping guy paired with a lithe, slightly feminine partner, which is another reason I didn't respond more to Logan/Jin) who are struggling to start a new era of pantherdom. Will they make it? Can true love conquer all? (Is this a Mary Calmes book? Her website states "Only Happily Ever Afters" and that's one of the main reasons I love reading her books) It's the journey, not the destination, and I loved Domin and Yuri's chemistry and relationship. I would have rated this higher if Domin and Yuri didn't spend quite so much time apart over the course of the book, but the sex scenes were scorching hot, so it made up for it. I hope there's at least one more book from Domin's POV (or maybe Yuri's) before this series concludes. less
