review 1: Poetry is my thing. I write it, I've slammed it, I read it, I've spoken it...and Mary Oliver is one of my favs, and this is my fav book of Mary Oliver's. There's really no way to express how awesome her words are until you read this. My personal favorite? "Carrying the Snake to the Garden". I had to re-read and underline and highlight over and over; I was in disbelief that something so wonderful could be written.
review 2: This is a delightful collection of poems by Mary Oliver. For those of us who live in rural areas, her poetry reveals the reverence and joy of living surrounded by wildlife. In "Five A.M. in the Pinewoods" she describes her meeting with two deer. She concludes, "I was thinking:/so this is how you swim inward,/so this is how you flow out... moreward,/so this is how you pray." She also includes 13 Percy poems about their new dog. These will bring a smile to any dog lover's face. less
