review 1: David is a lady’s man. He’s successful and sexy and British…yes, British (and we all know that this, in and of itself, makes him 100 times sexier)! He’s got baggage, of course, but deep down his heart is pure. This is his story and we’re treated to hearing it from his POV. Because this is an adult book, he is older than the heroes I’ve been reading about lately. He’s in his late thirties which means that he’s been around the block a few time and knows what he wants. However, when Allison walks in she shakes up David’s world. This was a great read. It was a book about finding the one and fighting for them, about understanding what you want and what you’re willing to do to get it and about how life can throw you a curve ball when you least expect it... more. David and Allison’s chemistry was strong and his unwavering desire to do the right thing by her was endearing. Now, I’ll come out and say it…Allison is in a relationship when these two meet, begin getting to know each other, and spend time together. Allison ignores their building attraction because of the relationship although David does not. He spends his time figuring out how to get her away from her current boyfriend, who happens to be older, rich…and a loser! This part of the story didn’t bother me although others may feel differently.Overall, this was a great read. David won my heart immediately and watching him grow and learn that his life could be different than what he imagined was wonderful. It’s not often that I read a book that’s almost completely about the relationship but I found that refreshing. The author didn’t take time out from the story to build some unnecessary subplot. Everything included in the book revolved around David and Allison and I, for one, enjoyed it!
review 2: Okay, yes, I'm a sucker for a hot, sexy, witty British guy. But believe me, once you've read No Ordinary Bloke you'll fall for David too. And just to make this book a double whammy for me, it's also one of those stories where that hot guy--who is one of those playing the field, not settling down playboy types--goes from being the playboy to finding The One. Too bad for him she's already taken. But a guy like David...well, he can still work with that. And before anyone tries to pull the "I don't like stories where someone's cheating or stealing someone's girl"--you need to read the whole thing first.I did get a little irritated with Allison at some points, and felt she let things with Trey go on a bit too long which slowed my reading down a bit while I pushed through waiting for things to pick up with her and David. But overall, the smooth writing and David's character-funny, witty, sweet...and don't forget hot and sexy-make this an enjoyable read with the happy ending that I was hoping for.4.5 stars for this fun read (and where can I find my own hot British guy?), recommended for 18+. less
