review 1: I can't really decide what I think of this book. It's not awful but it's not wonderful either. It is a really easy read and one that I did want to go back to and finish, but it was one that could also be left for a while. It is light humoured, and at times made me smile to myself, but I found it too predictable. From very early on I could tell where this book was going, which in turn took the enjoyment out of it. I found myself getting annoyed at the characterisations of the people and the cheesy lines that some of them came out with. There were a couple of characters I warmed to more than others, but overall they seemed quite flat and boring. I was invested in Calum's relationship the most, yet his was also the one that was obvious since the very beginning, so I think my ... moreinvestment was more about me finding out whether I was correct than who his date ended up being.The book came to an end quite nicely but all maybe a little too perfectly.
review 2: I got this book free through the Galaxy chocolate bar promotion, so I didn't lose much money on it, and it was a good mindless read during a couple of boring airplane journeys, but that was it. I found the mainly pun-centered jokes contrived, and by the end, I only really cared for one of the main characters and was basically reading to make sure that one ended up okay. The rest kind of dragged and left me wondering why I should care about these people, and there were too many coincidences for my liking. But I seem to be in the minority here, and others enjoyed this book more than I did, so it may just not be my cup of tea. less
