review 1: A spin-off genre called LadLit, this one apes the ChickLit category except that the protagonist is male. It's not too different otherwise, from the formula - angsty protagonist, falling short on the dating/love stakes, good friends to provide comic relief and dramatic contrast in lifestyle. What is sweet for an avid ChickLit reader is to read about men having feelings (of guilt, loyalty, hurt, regret etc) since most male characters in ChickLit are typically one-dimensional heroes or bastards. The story was a tad depressing in places but it picked up, probably mirroring the main character's rise from below average to 'good catch' in all aspects - appearance, health, confidence, career and love life. I enjoyed the book and I'd love to read another by the same au... morethor.
review 2: This was my first attempt at reading a book by Matt Dunn, despite the fact that I have several of his novels. I went into it with an idea of what the book would be like, and there weren't really any surprises. I did have a few pet peeves though. Obviously Ed is the kind of person who is always doing what others want, but this TOTALLY aggravated me. If someone left me the way his girl friend did, I would cut them out of my life completely from that moment! No matter how much it hurt. She was so rude about it. And I disliked his best friend Dan. He was obnoxious, rude and shallow. I'm sure their relationship is like ying-yang, but I just kept thinking "WHY ARE YOU FRIENDS WITH THIS DOUCHE BAG!?!?!"I wasn't shocked about the end... without giving away any spoilers I knew what would happen, and thought it would end with the one he did end it with, or the other woman who was in his life (and no, not his boss). I was so glad when he started standing up for himself. I wish that he didn't go through all the things he did go through for someone else, and did it for himself, but thankfully by the end it was for him. It's good for people to be the best they can be, but the way he was thrown into it was horrid. In conclusion, I did enjoy the book. It was a light, easy read with no surprises but was still enjoyable. I look forward to reading the rest of his books. less

This is actually the first book i've enjoyed written by a guy. It gives you a different point of view on a few things. I don't want to spoil the read for anyone, but the plot is something that happens to all of us...We break-up or get dumped and decide to change ourselves for the better...Very enjoyable read, love the way the chapters were each a different day, makes you feel like your with the personvgoing through the same things.

It was okay...I didn't like any of the characters so I found it hard to laugh at the so-called 'one liners' the ending was a bit obvious so I was left a bit disappointed, but its a nice book if you don't want anything heavy-going and would like a male perspective on relationships. I couldn't help imagining the main character as a bit of a Adrian Mole lookalike and his best friend was just annoying (which I suppose was the point.

It was interesting enough to finish. Not particularly challenging but cute.
