review 1: This was an interesting book, and I really liked it, right up until the narrator chose to become human. The story lost its charm and steam at that point and I never really felt engaged again. Also, the rules for humans were a little too much "The Alchemist" for me. I don't read a fiction book to be preached to and I didn't even read that list. A sad ending to what was a great read. It felt like a cop-out.
review 2: This is both an indictment of human behavior and why it kind of sucks to be us, and also full of examples why we have it pretty good and life on earth can be pretty awesome, despite the pain, suffering, and self-inflicted stupidity we put ourselves through. Even though the author is a human, it is an interesting look through the eyes of a fictional a... morelien who has never stepped foot on earth and begins to wonder why we act the way we do. less
