review 1: I've been wanting to read a Maureen Johnson book for awhile now, and the librarian at my school recommended this one to my students, so I checked out a copy.I liked it (hence the 3 stars), but I was expecting more. I had high expectations for this book that just weren't met, even though I enjoyed the story.A girl travels through Europe on her own at the request of her aunt who has unexpectedly passed away. Ginny's task is to walk in her aunt's footsteps and learn about her life/death. It was a quick, easy read. Her travels are interesting, although a bit unbelievable which made it hard to relate on any level.I think there are more stories in a series about little blue envelopes, I'm not sure I'll read them.
review 2: Sooo, this girl named Ginny got 13 envel
... moreopes to go on a trip from her runaway, deceased aunt. Aunt Peg was definitely NOT a reliable person, she runaway from her home when she was young, she had a illness but never told any of her family members and so she died. Surprisingly enough, Ginny's parents still let her go on the trip even though the rules state that she isn't allowed to bring a cell phone, laptop, camera or any electronic device. In fact, she isn't allowed to communicate back home. Even worse, she is only allowed to use the money that her unreliable aunt provided her. No back up money allowed. Somehow her parents aren't that concerned about the situation. Honestly, what kind of parent would let their 17 year old daughter go around Europe with no contact????? Anyways, her adventures are all over the place. She spends a very short period of time in a place then goes to the next place inducing Greece, Italy, Denmark, France, Scotland to name a few. Definitely a fast paced novel. The author though, needs to do some checking on how much it cost to take a plane to London. $1000 is obviously NOT enough. Also, I find that I end up knowing more about her aunt than the protagonist herself. Which is kinda strange because this book is supposed to be about Ginny, not Ginny's aunt. Over all this book was a pretty good one, it had lots of adventure, and romance which made the book hard to put down. I'm dying to know what the last envelope is about because some guy "accidentally" took Ginny's bag (which has all her things in it) and went somewhere. I'm most likely to read the last blue envelope soon(if I can find it.) less
