Little Blue Envelope
review 1: Frances McPhersonPeriod 8 The Last Little Blue Envelope is a fiction book written by Maureen Johnson. Her source of information was her own personal travels to London from her home in New York. This is shown throughout the book because the main character Ginny had an aunt that lived in New York City, and she travels to London at her aunt’s request. The intended audience is teens who are interested in adventures because, in the story, the main character travels all around Europe finding different parts of a huge piece of art. She goes on this big adventure in the span of only a few weeks with people she barely know. There’s also a small mystery factor in the story. She has all these clues and tasks to do, but she can’t find out what the next thing she has to do is unt... moreil she completes the current task. At first, I thought the purpose of the book was to continue the story from the prequel book (13 Little Blue Envelopes) and to engage readers in a one of a kind adventure, but after reading I think that the purpose was to show how much people can change in even a short amount of time. The time span between the first book and this book was only a few months, but the characters were very different from the beginning to the end. In my opinion the purpose was shown perfectly through the characters Ginny and Keith. After not seeing eachother for a few months, they almost didn’t recognize each other because of new hairstyles, clothing, and social lives. While reading, I felt connected to the story. Even though I have never done anything quite like what they do in the story, I have felt like I didn’t know what was going to happen until I was actually experiencing it. Overall I thought that this was an effective piece of literature, because I felt like I could relate to the story as an intended audience member.
review 2: I loved it! I was however a bit disappointed by the ending and was disappointed about the lack of characters changing themselves or growing but staying pretty linear other than Ginny and a tad bit of Oliver...I also had a few moments where I was confused and had to go bak an read something over again (that also could have happened a few times because I haven't read the first book in awhile" overall great book and I enjoyed it and would recommend it! But, make sure to read the first book first. less
