review 1: Must read for fans of the Shades of London series! So much depth and background provided on Stephen, who may just be my new favorite character -- especially since it's clear he is going to factor so heavily in book #3, THE SHADOW CABINET. I have only read this prequel and book #2, and I am absolutely hooked. Speaks very well of the author that she writes so well that readers can skip the first book and still understand what's going on. Of course, I will be reading THE NAME OF THE STAR (book #1) -- sooner than later, thanks to this prequel.
review 2: I loved it! This book showed us a whole other side of Stephen's life. It's sad, dark, heroic, ghostly, and mysterious. Although I do wish Callum and Boo were mentioned in the book, but then again it's about Stephe... morens life. This book just showed us way more about Stephen's life than what The Name of the Star and The- Madness Underneath could've provide for us. I just love this book 100%! Now I'm going to re-read the whole entire series all over again! Bye. less
