review 1: Max Allan Collins' political/detective story revolves around the murders of two conservative Supreme Court justices sometime in the near-future (We are on our second African-American president, and Roe v. Wade has recently been overturned thanks to the last conservative president's appointments.)This is strictly an airplane/beach book - competently written, fast-paced, lots of action with an interesting twist at the end, cardboard characters. It keeps one entertained, but would never be mistaken for great literature.
review 2: I had mixed feelings about this novel. On the one hand the plot was creative and thoughtful and it involved a unique political perspective in this judicial-based story. On the other hand, the book contained lots of irrelevant dialog, as
... moreif the publisher and editor told the author to add pages to make the book more marketable. The book also contained a gratuitous sex scene which did not fit into the plot development. I wish the editor had used a finer tooth comb before it was released to the public. less

I liked it. It was a fast read, with enough plot to keep things interesting. Perfect length.
