review 1: It took me a while really to get into this book but ultimately I quite enjoyed it. The study/teaching of persuasion and learning the power that words have over peoples' actions has not been explored in quite this way before. Now that it's over, I'm sorry there isn't more, but, after a long long bumpy ride, there were satisfying resolutions for the plight of the main characters, which was gratifying in the end.
review 2: This book has a novel concept: a secret society that has learned how to control others with words is pretty much running things. The heroine is a street urchin who is selected to be trained in this skill due to her persuasive abilities exhibited while ripping off the yokels playing 3 card monte. She is pretty much a rogue at the society's ver... moresion of Hogwart's from the start. I could barely put this book down. less
