review 1: This book reminded me of the time I made the mistake of getting my lady parts waxed at a nail salon: thoroughly and unnecessarily unpleasant. I wanted it to end. But it just didn't. Not for quite some time. Every small action was drawn out. And just when I would see a glimmer of hope that the whole thing was about to be over, it wasn't. Let's agree on some basics for a murder mystery: if four people have already been killed and a few more sent to the hospital, you fail as a detective! You did not solve the mystery soon enough! Additionally, if the main murder of the story is overshadowed by a much more interesting one, which is then solved sooner, by someone other than the detective protagonist, your murder mystery may have barged in on some other author's murder my... morestery that was proceeding at a much more reasonable and thrilling pace.
review 2: SPOILER ALERT!John Sunday, a stickler for rules on Health and Safety Board, harasses villagers for their "violations"; he's such a stickler that even his co-workers steer clear. When he ends up murdered, no one seems to care. The prime suspects hires Agatha Raisin and her agency in order to clear her name...and ends up murdered herself. Raisin's pursuit of justice is rather helter-skelter, as is her custom, but she gets the job done in the end, even having to head to France and America to chase down clues. In the background, her friends Mrs Bloxby, Sir Charles, Bill Wong, Roy, and even James Lacey make appearances, but the focus is mainly on Toni and a new hire in the office and the folks of Odley Cruesis (where the crimes took place).I didn't understand the Christmas theme on the cover...there was really no mention of it besides the face that Agatha missed it since she had swine flu and was holed up in her hotel room. As for the title, well, who's the Busy Body? Ms Raisin herself? LOL. Such fun!As a side note, I hadn't heard the expression "snakes and bastards" before, but gosh, Raisin says it quite a bit in this book. less

A re-read. Was in the mood to read a "Christmasey" book. :)

Entertaining. Light. A nice distraction.
