review 1: I know quite a few people who read the Agatha Raisin books and I was expecting much more from this story. I know this is a Christmas short story but there was no substance to it at all. A weak storyline and no particularly likeable characters either. A couple of the elderly guests seemed good but two of them were downright awful. I would have liked to have known more about Mrs Bloxby, the vicar's wife. I didn't like Agatha. What a meddling busybody she is! Very disappointing. One redeeming factor is that there was some some weak humour.

The main problem here was the ending, which felt rushed and didn't make any sense. Ultimately I think Agatha Raisin is too well-developed a character to be featured in a short story and the usual "Agatha Raisin recipe" doesn't work well in so short a form. less

I love Agatha Raisin mysteries. This was another good one. Short and sweet. Way to go Agatha.
