review 1: Really good book and I would like to recommend it to anyone who is interested in mystery. It is slow but it gets really interested towards the end. Picture me gone mentions about how a girl by the name of Mala sets off for New York along with her father. Her father came to know that his friend had disappeared from his house. They had not met for 8 years. Mala’s father’s friend’s wife called to tell Mala’s father that his friend set off for work and did not come back home. Mala tagged along with her father as she was good at solving problems. It was a long flight to New York but they reached after travelling for 12 hours. They met up with the wife of Mala’s father’s friend and sett of for their house. There are series of events that help in leading up to Mala's ... morefamily friend. Will they find him?
review 2: The writing was good and the story was entertaining enough but something was definitely missing from this book. The story goes that a girl, age 12, and her dad fly from London to New York to try to find the dad's long time friend who has recently walked out on his family. The girl is supposed to be really talented at observing people and things to figure stuff out. And she does. But it's told from her point of view and she never shares her conclusions with anybody so you don't know if she's actually figuring things out or just coming to wrong conclusions. She always "figures things out" and then waits for her dad to figure it out too and complains when he doesn't. What's the point, then? And there are no quotation marks in this book which made it somewhat hard to tell what she was saying out loud and what she was just thinking. So basically maybe a good idea for a story, but I didn't feel it was well executed. less
