review 1: This is only 4 stars instead of 5 because I wish it was longer - not because there are any elements missing from the story, but because I really want to know what happens next for these two.Jack is a dedicated delivery driver who seems content with his life. He does his job well, even though sometimes he bends the rules to spend some time with one of his customers who bakes him cookies (and tells him he would be great for her own son). But when he walks in one day on a bit of a situation and finally meets her son, he learns a lot more about him and reveals a lot more about himself than he would have expected.Brilliantly executed, the dynamic between Jack and Allen is wonderful and author writes the face paced story quite well. As I said, the only real drawback is that I... more want MORE. Highly recommend this one.
review 2: This was a terrific short story. In fact, it's hard to believe that so much story could be packed into so few pages. Jack, a delivery man, is a former mob member-- actually he was the mob boss's son. He's the one who blew the whistle and provided the feds evidence so he's been in a witness protection program. When he stops at the home of his favorite customer, he goes inside hoping to get cookies and few minutes of pleasant conversation. But what he gets is sucked into a potential hit on his customer's son. I loved this whole adventure, from the character development of the MCs and the mother, to the believability of the situation they were in, to the new career that Jack seems ready to settle into. The guys were not only hot together, their banter was humorous and their personalities meshed. And a huge thank you to the author for providing this story to our members for free! Highly recommend this to all. less
