review 1: I had no idea when I started reading this it was a YA book as I didn't realize the Humble Bundles included those. So I was way outside this book's target demo to begin with. But it was pretty straightforward and predictable. Mostly I found it distracting that the main character spoke entirely in English except for one word per sentence. There were certain words, like hermana, that were consistently in Spanish but it still felt forced. And the mother's reaction at the end seemed completely out of the blue.
review 2: Harry Potter for a slightly older audience, YA rather than children. It was mostly fairly inoffensive, but I was tempted to rate it lower because there are some really dumb bits, like people causing their own problems by just not talking to each othe
... morer like normal human beings, and basically the whole last chapter (and a bit of the one before). Also, the random Spanish words sprinkled throughout were really annoying. I guess they're there to signify that the protagonist is bilingual, but this isn't important to the plot at all. It wasn't terrible, but I really can't see any reason to recommend this book to anyone. less

Easy read. Entertained me. Not super special, but kept me invested.
