Star Wars: Coruscant Nights
review 1: I am reviewing the Star Wars novel Coruscant Nights 2: Street Of Shadows by Michael Reaves which is a very good book which I bought from kindle. I did review Coruscant Nights 1 recently and this book continues the story in the trilogy. It is part of the Star Wars series of novels and this book is set between Revenge of the Sith & A New Hope. It is at a time when Darth Vader also known as Annakin Skywalker is trying to wipe out the Jedi's. Most of the Jedi's think he died on a volcanic world and don't realize he has joined the Empire. This book starts off with the funeral of Padme a female Jedi and the Jedi who loved her with all his heart but was the wrong caste to have any kind of a proper relationship is at the funeral he promises vengeance. He shows she has been strangl... moreed but there are no bruises to her neck so it must be a Jedi. He knows she was on a secret mission involving Annakin Skywalker so that is where he must start. In the meantime Jax who is a Jedi on coruscant has teamed up with a renegade female Jedi and he and his group are trying to find out what is going on having fled a trap with Stormtroopers who shot and killed a fellow Jedi. This is one of the better stories of the Star Wars series and would make quite a good film. We come to the realization that Darth Vader in his current situation is worse off than if he was dead. For a start he is badly burnt and has to use a ventilator to breath not to mention having a cruel master in Emperor Palpatine. Of course it ends with an open ending that will be continued in the next book. I really enjoyed it.
review 2: Not bad...I found it an odd mix of murder mystery, romance, and action. I could have done without the romance subplots because I felt they (there was more than one) detracted from the main plot. The murder mystery main plot was not developed enough to be a twist, but overall the book satisfied my need to not think or process complex themes. It's a good book, fun read, and the characters are easy to connect with. less
