Baker Street Letters
review 1: Funny and fab mystery, third in series, starring two brothers who have inherited the letters written to Sherlock Holmes since their law offices reside at 221B Baker Street.I read and loved the first in the series, will find and read the second very soon. I don't think it was paramount that I read the second, or even the first, to enjoy this third in series. But you would be missing a superb mystery and intro to the characters and setting if you don't read the first one, and I bet the second one, too.The mystery is varied here, several are going on and each one is perplexing. There's an inheritance in question, a murdered man who traveled from afar to get a nursery rhyme explained. His murder is explained away as being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but the brothers ... moreare convinced otherwise. There is also the issue with the rival of one of the brothers. The rival goes missing and neither brother feels overly compelled to find him....but they know they should...and search they do.The characters are fully realized, I feel like I know them and can empathize with them. The mysteries are exceptionally written, no early whodunit figuring out for me. I love this series and now off to find book two, THE BAKER STREET LETTERS.Highly recommended!
review 2: This is the third installment of the Baker Street brothers who have inherited the mantle of Sherlock Holmes' flame keepers. This book is mostly about Reggie and his lack of ability to see the forest for the trees. He isn't a big picture fellow. seemingly random events happen to him without being able to put the dots together. He bumbles in his relationship with Lauren. He ends up helping his rival for his girlfriend's affections. Yet, with it all he manages to solve the mystery and give up billions. I enjoyed the book and look forward to the next one. less
