The Undrowned Child
review 1: In the year 1899, Venice is seeing some unprecedented natural disasters. The waters around Venice are heating up and now sharks are prowling the lagoon. And children are dying from a mysterious plague. When Teo and her parents travel to Venice to help, Teo meets a young Venetian boy and the two of them set out to try to solve the mystery of why Venice seems to be under attack. They get help from a tattooed cat, mermaids, and other magical creatures. Just what is Teo’s connection to all of this?

... moretion; I dislike Maria, but I think its very good she goes beyond a stereotype; Teo is good; the villain is reasonable; the side characters excellent, and Renzo just a wonder - and this is also the second book Lovric actually had me like the romance (I love the book of human skin as well, though more than a little more) the only possible criticism of the characters is how there age seems a bit unnatural for their characters, but thats a nitpick - If you love rich reading that isn't too laborious, and glimmers like the Venetian sea; this is a must. less
