review 1: I chose to read this book to honor the late Deon Kopke. He once recommended the book and because he passed away last month, I decided I must read it now, not later. An interesting thing happened while reading this book: I felt as though I was getting a glimpse into Deon's mind and even felt at times like I was getting to experience one last conversation with him. I can see why Deon liked this book, as he was one of the most optimistic and positive people I have ever met. I remember one time his car broke down blocks away from work and rain was coming down in torrents, yet when he arrived, looking like he'd taken a swim in the Fraser River, he smiled and laughed as he told me what had happened. There are so few people out there like him. The world really lost a special ... moresoul the day he passed away.As for "Choose Them Wisely," it's funny because I thought it was going to be about friends and their influence over you and how you start to talk like the people around you... How you should choose them wisely in order to succeed in business. So I was fairly surprised when I found it was an inspirational book, one that aims to lift you up and make life's challenges and dreams seem possible. I now understand why Deon wanted us to read the book and it is too late to thank him for believing in us.
review 2: Excerpt: Choose Them WiselyIt's Me! Life! Thoughts are the things that draw life to you. Like a magnet to steel, they're how dreams come true. It's really that easy and a whole lot of fun, just know what you want and imagine it done. Sure, the manifestation part is easy. You already do it, day in and day out. Your dreams have come true. You’re living them right now! The heroes and heroines in your life—they’re pretty much what you thought you’d find, right? And the hills and valleys, the challenges and triumphs—just like you pictured them. You’ve got the right stuff, and you’re using it! The tricky part, and this isn’t always so obvious, is knowing what you really want. Tricky because it requires brutal honesty with yourself. It requires asking questions that ordinarily you wouldn’t have to ask, looking at facts you’ve “made up,” rethinking what they’re proving, and understanding your fears and your true motivations. No, of course you don’t have to go there. Almost no one does. You can fool most of the people most of the time, and no one’s going to come tap you on the shoulder to tell you that you’ve been kidding yourself. Accept the life you lead. Question yourself, and think deep. -From the book, Choose Them Wisely less

Okay, but nowhere near the valuable contribution of his other books.
