review 1: I liked every story presented in "The Amazing Screw-on Head and Other Curious Objects". It was a unique collection of stories. "The Amazing Screw-on Head" short story had just the right type of humor to it, and I loved how Mike Mignola illustrated his daughter's story "The Magician and the Snake". One thing I like about reading anything Mike Mignola writes: anything can happen... the impossible is made possible.
review 2: The title story is the prize of this collection, fully realizing the witty stream-of-consciousness romp through an alternate steam punk account of history. The tone lives somewhere between the unchained stories kids write before they learn the "right" way and the infectiously funny mania of Jhonen Vasquez, but narrated with the voice of a fopp... moreish straightman. Were each of the stories as lengthy and dense as Screw-On Head, this would be a four star book for me. less
