review 1: Um...wow okay an imaginary boyfriend brought to life?? Weird. Sounds like something right out of the magical world of Disney. However, this book ends up being much more than that in that it does a complete 360 and heads down a completely different path. It was a little slow to get to that point and I had the urge to slap Dakota multiple times over how ridiculous she acted, but once it started to actually make sense the pages of the book flew past and I couldn't put it down. I do feel that Dakota could have been more than what she was but all in all it was an okay story to pass the time.
review 2: I really enjoyed this book. I give it a solid 3.5-4 stars. The premise is different which I liked. So much of what I read today is the same story retold. This book is ... moreabout Dakota who is a self proclaimed loser in high school. She has no friends except for her BFF Mandy. She is about to graduate, but has been tormented by the bully head cheerleader for the last 4 years. With only 8 was of school left she decides to reinvent herself before college with a new look & decides she will stand up to her tormentor finally. After a run in with Janice she posts on her Facebook page the boyfriend she met over spring break at the Hamptons. Problem is it is a lie so she finds a random picture of a guy online & makes up his backstory. Then the next time she goes to school he is there in the flesh. She can't understand how or why he is here. She can't determine if he is ruining her life or if she wants to sleep with him. But half the time she just thinks she's losing her mind. As the story unravels there is danger and humor and definite sexy angst. This book is short & a quick read with no cliffhanger as it is a standalone. I would definitely recommend this read. less
