review 1: I really didn't expect this book to play out like it did, but enjoyed it immensely. Magic, evil and unexplained in today's setting is something that skeptic, or realists would not accept in this book. But, allowing the story to be a story and not wrapping your head around the "Why", as King reminds Mia in the book, allows you to truly enjoy this book. If you love magic, suspense, and a gullible woman putting faith into a dark character, read it.
review 2: Okay *sigh* where do I begin.First off lets say I did not expect this type of book after reading the summary. I thought this was one of those rich hot guy falls for random pretty-but-don't-know-it- girl books. I did not expect rich guy to be some weird magical being. Second, this book was oddly close to my FA
... moreVORITE series "the Fever series" and lets just face it there can NEVER be another Jericho Barrons. So I won't compare this book to that one. I liked King's character. I admit I would be very tempted to give him my goodies also. So I do not blame the lead girl for that. however I wished he gave us a little more about what he is. I think her assumption of him being the devil was a very good one, and he kept knocking that down but wasn't giving anything up. I understand that with a series you can't give up everything in the first book so I will give the author a pass on that. Now for the lead girl, I disliked her. So many times I wanted to reach into that book and shake her. How many times must you do something stupid? I felt like I could have had a better understanding of her powers if she would have just shut up and followed the freaking directions. But no! So I still don't know anything about her abilities. Honestly I don't think any questions were answered In this book. And if the author got my hopes up again just to be dashed because the lead girl was dreaming I was going to scream. I was so ready for her and King to get it on and get it over with. The only time I liked the lead girl was when she was making out with him. Anyway, I liked the book. King was a a-hole but in a good way. I will definitely read the other two books in the series. I just hope the girl gets a little less annoying and learn to follow some dang directions. less

My thoughts are jumbled. Throughout the entire book, it was a total WTF moment. I get it, but i don't. I'm confused, but i'm not. This book has me trying to wrap it around my head. Ok So Mia, gets a call that her brother is missing. And like any sister she wants to help but takes matters into her own hands. But doesn't get very far. She finds this man named King, and goes to him for help. King is the biggest freaking asshole i have read about. I just don't understand him. He is just plain freaking weird. Ass-holy-ness has got some serious issues. issues that i cannot comprehend.Mia gets on my nerves because she made a deal and fights it every damn corner she can. Its just like, yeah this fool can snap your neck in like .5 of a second... but damn you made the deal... deal with it.King is man. He wants something, he gets it. When you ask questions you get punished or whatever. Its pretty simple... do as he says. He owns you. You made the deal. Go go threw with it. But Mia does not. So it pisses him off. Then, its just, King is gone. Mia, tries to find him, but has no luck. She gets emotionally attached which is a pretty stupid thing considering he is pure asshole. Loved this book. Amazing... i have to... absolutely have to read the next one!

DNF'd (yes, I'm making it a verb) at 83%I don't know if the book just went over my head, but I did not get it. Most of the situations made me going "Wait... Wat." And then Mia made me want to strangle her at nearly every turn. She sold herself to the Devil (for want of better word), to help find her brother, but she's always doing something that's the exact opposite of what King askes. DO YOU EVEN WANT TO FIND YOUR BROTHER?! Because it didn't seem like it.Also: I thought there was going to be romance? Seriously, I think the only reason why I kept reading was because I was waiting for there to be romance, but then I just quit. I don't think I was the only one thinking there was going to be romance, either. And, MAN. The story was sooooo slow! I understand that it's a series, but that doesn't mean that there can't be a plot point and climax in the individual books. Look at series like the Night Huntress, where each book in that series has a plot point, while still connecting all seven books (AND side stories/novellas).So, yeah. This book got one star from me because of my utter disappointment. I'm just happy that it was free on Amazon when I got it.

Really enjoyed that the story was far from being predictable!
